What is homebased care?

Home-based care refers to a range of healthcare services provided to individuals in their own homes rather than in traditional healthcare settings like hospitals. This type of care is designed to support patients, the elderly and disabled persons with various health needs.  This in turn promotes recovery, chronic illness management, and overall well-being.

At Extracare Health, we have one of the homebased care packages in Kenya. Here is a quick look into what we can do for you.

  1. Personalized Care Plans: Tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient, often developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  2. Skilled Nursing: Involves qualified nurses providing medical care, such as wound dressing, medication management, and monitoring vital signs.
  3. Physiotherapy Services:  includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy to aid in recovery and enhance mobility.
  4. Personal Care Assistance: Help with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and companionship.
  5. Palliative and Hospice Care: Focused on providing comfort and support for individuals with chronic illnesses or those nearing the end of life.

Why choose homebased care?

Home based care has multiple benefits not only to the patient by their family.

  1. Health Monitoring: Regular assessments of health status to identify any changes that may require intervention.
  2. Family Involvement: Encourages family members to participate in care, providing emotional support and helping with daily tasks.
  3. Comfort and Familiarity: Patients recover better in a familiar environment.
  4. Personalized Attention: One-on-one care allows for individualized support.
  5. Reduced Hospitalization: Helps prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and readmissions.
  6. Cost-Effectiveness: Often less expensive than extended hospital stays.
  7. Improved Quality of Life: Promotes independence and enhances overall well-being.

Overall, home-based care is a vital component of modern healthcare, focusing on patient-centered approaches that improve recovery and quality of life
